A matter of size

APS-C has arguments which made me downgrade again.

You know, I really did not intend none of this. It has evolved.
In the meantime, a series has emerged on the subject of camera settings and how the real professionals set up their cameras. There are, for example, the choice of the right file format, which mode’s the right one at what time, such as aperture priority.

Today, we’ll have a look at the importance of size. A matter of size. So to speak.
Pweh! I’ve always wanted to say something stupid like that on that blog. Check.

There are cameras with different sensor sizes. Them pro know: The bigger the better! Videos about APS-C sensors are circulating on the Internet, which come to the conclusion that they are sufficient enough and provide good quality.
The larger full frame sensors would add only little value at the best.
Those videos are from people who use full frame exclusively themselves. That’s what I call authentic.
But what is that added value of larger full frame sensors all about?
Assuming both have the same number of pixels, say 24 megapixels: The larger a sensor with the same number of pixels, the more light can hit each pixel, because each pixel must thus be bigger. The difference’s therefore better noise behavior in low light scenes.
Everything else, such as color rendering, contrast or sharpness, is mostly determined by the lens! Because this is what brings the light to the sensor in the first place.

If you use a high-quality lens with a fast aperture on an APS-C sensor, the combination can easily keep up with full frame. Some full frame lenses have an even faster aperture, which would not be possible under APS-C. But there we have entered priceless spheres anyways.
When poor lighting conditions can be avoided as far as possible a smaller sensor rewards you with the following advantages:
APS-C cameras are more compact, meaning smaller and lighter, so it’s less of a hassle to carry them around and they’re also less conspicuous in our everyday life.
For me, these were recent arguments to downgrade again. You see: Bigger is not always better.
