In all likelihood, your parents have taught you to be open and honest in your behavior?
And with good reason: An open-minded person shows interest, is receptive and unbiased towards new things. An honest person exudes authenticity, is genuine about himself.
We love that kind of people.
Do such values have their drawbacks, I hear you asking.
Honesty has nothing to do with, for instance, being allowed to throw it all in the face of another person without reflection or deeper thought. That would be nothing but rude.
Telling the truth with no undue embellishment and sticking to facts is something else.
Although often a narrow line.
Social interaction’s never trivial. Communication, feelings, all this can become very complicated very quickly. But instead of hurting others, we should respond to their needs.
Even if we cannot stand the other person.
In this case we provide happiness. Who can wish us harm if we behave with respect and create good emotion? People want appreciation.
And as a side effect we also get what we want without being a stupid moron.
